SUBJECT: Battery power for your rigs and power distribution
Currently I use a 12VDC system to power all my rigs save the
Heathkit SB-221 linear. The Ten-Tec Closet Kilowatt and all the
VHF/UHF rigs are run via a 12VDC distibution system and controlled
from a switching panel. The panel has switching control for two
buses, LED indicators for active buses, and a meter to monitor the
different buses. One bus controls the Ten-Tec and related equipment
while the other controls the VHF/UHF rigs and associated equipment.
The distribution system is fed from a Pyramid 50A supply and
is individually swtiched to four 115A deep cycle batteries. Certain
items have direct feeds from the batteries such as the Hercules II
linear, Paragon, and auto antenna coupler. These items are wired
direct for continuous service during phone patching operations.
The following figure show a basic system using two deep cycle
batteries.

This simple system can be expanded on to accomodate just about
any need.
